Hi folks! Welcome the to our weekly recap of Archer’s third season, on the Multiversity Summer TV Binge 2021. This week’s episode is named “The Limited” and this time all the action happens on a train. Let’s dive right in.

1. Wait, so Canadian Separatists do exist?

The plot of this episode involves a Nova Scotia separatist terrorist named Kenny Bilko, who was caught by ISIS’ team and has to be transferred to Canadian soil to be sentenced, and of course, they choose going on train.

If it takes twelve hours, why did they choose a train instead of any other way, do you ask? Well, surely just so we can have an episode featuring it. All this season we have seen different sets other than the office, and that is something that the animation team is steadily mastering.

You, know, this show tends to use real life events to give us social satire, and I didn’t know Canadian separatist movements were real! I mean, they are minimal and don’t usually make the news, but they exist! There are separatist in Alberta, Quebec and other places, with proposed states like Cascadia, Acadia or the Republic of Quebec, who would have thought!

2. George

As we all know, Malory is very racist, and today wasn’t the exception. She was a complete asshole to the train’s porter, named George, which she was already using, but not as his name but as a derogatory and highly problematic term.

You see, back in the slavery days, White People tended to call slaves as the name of their owners, and when black people emancipated but could only find work as servants and porters, that habit stuck with them. When George Pullman was the owner of Pullman Company, he hired mostly black porters, and they were referred as “Georges” by passengers. The Dollop did a two parter on him and it’s very much worth listening.

3. The Tunts’ Train

Of course Malory demands a much better room than the one he was assigned and berates George about it. After she discovers some special wagons that turn out to be the property of Cheryl Tunt, her secretary. These wagons, as you can expect from a millionaire, include two to sleep cars, one to eat and even a small skating rink, that’s right, a skating rink.

Knowing that Malory would not allow them to be on the mission, Cheryl decided to connect her own private cars, and invited all of her friends, the outcast members from ISIS. Besides, no vacation trip is complete without your pet, in this case Babou the ocelot, and when Archer discovers that it is with them on the train he loses his composure and professionalism and focuses on excitedly playing with the animal.

4. A Canadian Mexican standoff

With Archer distracted, Lana annoyed and Cyril worried about where everyone is, the whole team left Bilko by himself, and naturally, he escapes, so they begin a manhunt and an ocelot-hunt, that ends with the train stopping at the frontier, where the Mounties enter the train, but Bilko’s terrorist friends also come inside, dressed as Mounties, so we have a gun fight that ends when Archer launches a grenade, effectively destroying a wagon, but stopping the fight.

5. Fulfill your dreams Archer!

But Bilko is still on the run, and he hopped to its roof, and Archer is happy because he’s fulfilling a lifelong dream: having a fight at the top of a train, except it’s not as easy as the movies, the air hits you with all it’s strength, you need googles but DO NOT use night vision, and be careful with all the obstacles on the road!

At the end, Archer doesn’t save the day, instead, the mere fact that the train stopped is what defeated Bilko, so, everything is the same no matter the place, Canadian government won’t work with the agency any more, and Archer is arrested importing wild life.

Joke of the week:

Kenny Bilko: My boys are badass

Cyril: Well, so am –Lana, and I’m learning. Oh, and don’t forget about Archer!

And that’s it for today, overall, it was a very funny and insightful episode with very interesting premise that made me discover a ton of new things. What did you think of this episode?
