Hi folks! Welcome to our weekly recap of Archer’s third season, on the Multiversity Summer TV Binge 2021. This week’s episode is named “Space Race: Part I,” this is the first part of the season finale and today, we are going to space! Let’s dive right in.
1. Let´s go to space
The Horizon space station suffered an attack, and now the ISIS team is needed to stop the possible mutineers, Commander Anthony Drake chooses them for their lack of loyalty, which says a lot about the agency and the little confidence they generate to the US government, to such a degree that they are elected when the mission does not need loyalty to a country but loyalty to money.
So, the entire team prepares and train at the facilities of ISA, the International Space Agency, starting with health tests carried out by Krieger, including anal enemas, the problem is that he does not work with the agency, apparently he only did it for his own “scientific interest.”
2. Training is hard
This episode is a perfect example of the ineffectiveness of the spy agency, when they have to do flight tests only Cyril is able to fly the simulator, but is interrupted by Archer, who seeks attention as always.
Later, in the gravity tests aboard a parabole plane, Lana begins her long vomiting journey through these two episodes, rendering her ineffective against the bad guys.
3. Wherever they go, the Archer family always carry their problems
When the spaceship begins its way to the Horizon, the team discovers that Malory is also on board, and not only her, but also Cheryl and Pam are hiding as stowaways, they snuck in because Archer wants to continue having sex with her.
Also, Pam is hurt, because of the whole thing with Katya Kazanova, Archer forgot about her to get married and bang the android, but she doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to go to space.
One of the most interesting elements is the fact that our character’s addiction (as usual) affects the mission. Malory is in such an incapacitating level of alcoholism that she drinks from a graduated cylinder in the test lab without knowing its contents, and while she is on the rocket, she begins to collect isopropyl alcohol to drink, in case there is no other type of alcoholic beverage in the spacecraft.
And, just like his mother, Archer hopes that there is a bar or cantina where he can drink; he also takes Pam on the trip to continue having sex with her. We are dealing with damaged people, and each one cope as they can with their internal conflicts.
4. Plasma Rifles are funny
Archer discovers a plasma rifle straight out of any science fiction movie, and uses it in “stunt” mode against Cyril and Pam, the former for fun and the latter to prevent her from talking about their sexual secret.
Commander Drake has to use a defibrilator on both victims, because even when the gun is on a nonlethal mode, it is still dangerous to use, and he orders that Cyril arrests Archer to prevent him from compromising the mission yet again.
When the team tries to go against the alleged mutineers, they are unable to advance, Cyril is incapable of using his gun, and Lana keeps vomiting intensely. Archer convinces Pam to release him, they have non-gravity sex and then Archer arrives to save the day.
5. The truth is, Archer is a good spy
Archer is a bad spy because he is constantly distracted and looking for his own benefit, but in this episode we see that in reality, he is a highly capable person, he is the only one who resists the first push in the liftoff, and in the zero gravity test, he even enjoys the training and takes his time to annoy Cyril, forcing him to go through all the vomiting Lana left behind.
Back in the Horizon, Archer stunts everybody, opening their way until they reach the central base, where they discover that the people Archer defeated were the ones who were trying to save the mission, because Anthony Drake, along with Commander Kellogg, are the real mutineers, they are on a mission on their own, trying to terraform and coloniza marz, and they hired the ISIS team knowing that they would be very easy to manipulate because of their lack of loyalty,

Joke of the week:
Drake: Is mutiny funny to you, Mr. Archer?
Archer: I don’t know, maybe a mutiny of clowns.
