Lucharaaaaaaan! Welcome to our review of ¡Mucha Lucha!‘s fifth episode, which includes “The Curse of the Masked Toilet” & “The Mummy with The Golden Mask”. As every week there’s a song for you, this time is La Momia from Mister Chivo, it’s a “horror-cumbia“, and the band has a lot of them (I guess you get more than one song this time). And now that the ring is ready, let’s start this review!
1. Recaps
In “The Curse of the Masked Toilet”, The Flea tells her little sister Pulguita a scary story to… make her sleep? Well, Flea’s story is about an alive toilet that wants to finish our good guy, will he survive? (Of course he will).
On the second part, Buena Girl is at the mercy of “The Mummy with The Golden Mask”, blame The Flea for awakening her at the museum. And only our hero Rikochet can save her… just after a good pajama party.
2. The reader should refer to himself/herself only in third person, please
This is the first episode that features The Flea as the main character, including his sister and parents. Last week I told you I was not liking how the character was being used. To elaborate a little more, I was feeling that The Flea was mainly a background character with jokes. So, now that he is the main character in this story, here’s the opportunity to really enjoy the comedy of the show in full. It was a very funny and enjoyable episode, also you can never not-enjoy a Psycho shower-scene reference.
3. The Flea versus a toaster, a toilet, the shower, hygiene
Is the bad guy of the episode a villain if he only wants The Flea to be clean? Hahaha, that’s what I thought when the toilet attacks The Flea on the shower. It was hilarious to see a ‘good guy’ struggling to get a shower, I guess it shows kids that everybody has to take care of his health every once in a while. Who would thought that Flea’s original color is white?
4. The greatest victory is making a new friend… even mummies
I can’t remember any other time, series or movies where, before a fight, the rival characters, go out and enjoy an evening together —pizza, charades and even hugs—, and becoming great friends, only to come back and HAVE the fight, it’s hilarious!
5. Spaghetti on a cone
I think this is the best episode so far, it was full of great jokes, callbacks, and weird stuff. I couldn’t stop laughing at the mummy only being able to scream as hard as possible, or Buena Girl being forgotten by everybody, or the flea putting a mask to a T-Rex. It as awesome! I love turning off my logic and just have a blast with a kids cartoon.
¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tres! ¡Ganadoooooor! That’s our review for this week. Let us know what you think of this episode of ¡Mucha Lucha! (and any other series from our Summer TV Binge) in the comments below. See you next Friday!
