Hi folks! Welcome back to our weekly recap of The Flash. This week’s episode is named “Death of the Speed Force,” this was one of the best episodes of the season so far, every main character had an important moment yesterday, everyone has their own crisis to deal with, let’s dive right in.

1. Barry’s out of his game

So, Wally is back! He was reintroduced with an amazing first scene where he disassembles a whole helicopter, showing us how he has maturated since the last time we saw him, whether on Legends or here, taking his time to avoid any loss, material or human.

He comes to Barry to ask him if he’s having troubles with the speed force lately, and we are shown flashbacks from earlier episodes where they teased us that there was a problem with Barry’s powers. But to me that wasn’t the worst part, he can live without powers, the worst part is that Barry has not been being himself lately.

We are shown how he is on denial about having a problem, he doesn’t realize that Evil Iris is not his wife and he has been angrier and generally more distracted lately, as if he is out of his element since the Crisis. I don’t know if I feel the change because it’s a narrative element that will be solved later or if the writers are having problems writing the character, I sincerely hope that it’s the former, because it has been interesting seeing our main character off his element.

2. The Speed Force died

Wally talks to Iris about Barry, and like the evil chisme (gossip) queen she is, she tells him that something happened between Barry and the Speed Force, but she doesn’t know what exactly it was

Wally confronts Barry and we had a couple of great shots on the technical level, Dutch angle to show the rift between both characters and then a transition from mid shots to close ups to show us how the more spiritual Wally got Barry inside the Speed Force without him even noticing.

Here we are revealed that it wasn’t for the fight between Barry and Speed Force-Nora Allen, instead, it is because Barry used The Spectre’s powers to enter the Speed Force during the Crisis, and now, thanks to his denial, there’s nothing they can do and the Speed Force is dead.

3. Cisco didn’t had an epiphany

Cisco’s problem this episode is that, when he traveled around the world, he didn’t feel that “change” that everyone feels when they are gone, he compares himself to Ralph or Caitlin/Frost or Wally; but Caitlin talk’s to him and tells him that not everyone has to experience a moment like an epiphany or something, everybody experiences thing differently and it’s not wrong if he didn’t had a life-changing experience.

This feeling makes him dismiss Nash’s plea for help, which ends up making more problems for the team, because when he comes to say sorry, Nash is not himself anymore…

4. Nash is gone

While trying to confront the ghost that has been haunting him, Nash is instead possessed by him: Eobard Thawne again. He tries to kill Cisco but is powerless and then he is taken to the Pipeline prison, at first I thought Nash had some kind of mental/psychological breakdown and he only believed that he was possessed by Thawne, but later, he mocks Barry for the death of the Speed Force and how could Nash know that?

To be honest, I’m a little tired of having Eobard appear so often, every time seems to be the last time he will appear and yet the writing team manages to introduce him again and again, BUT, I will give them this: last season they told us that Thawne created his own Speed Force and tried to make Nora use it, now, thanks to this, Barry will attempt to create one of his own.

5. Evil Iris is discovered for the first time

Two important things happened, the first one is that, thanks to his meditations, Wally knows that Iris is not herself and warns his father to keep an eye on here, creating the first doubt against the character. The second one was more confrontational, Kamilla took a photo of the siblings with her new camera modified by Cisco (clearly a DSLR, otherwise how could it catch mirror energy?), Iris confronts Kamilla and forces her to delete the image, but in the last scene, later in the day, Kamilla discovers that the camera is still processing filters and the picture is not deleted yet, she discovers that Iris is not herself but it’s too late, she attacks Kamilla and makes her disappear! Is she in the mirrored universe now?

BONUS: The rundown team told us (via Deadline) this week that both Brandon McKnight and Kayla Compton are being promoted to series regulars starting on season seven, so, we’ll have a lot more of Chester P. Runk and Allegra, congrats to them!.

And that’s it for this episode, I didn’t even talk about the Meta of the week! This episode was packed with story and with a lot of tension, what did you think of this episode? Leave your comments below, we’ll meet back in a week for our take on episode 615, “The Exorcism of Nash Wells.”
