On Friday, we asked our readers to pick their favorite DC comic penned by Grant Morrison. While all but 2 got at least one vote (Sorry, “Wonder Woman Earth One” and “Action Comics”), the top choice was relatively clear. With just over one quarter of the total vote, “All-Star Superman” clocked in at #1. 27.7% of our readers felt that Morrison’s story of love, compassion, and determination, which is many ways is part of the “DC One Million” event, defines Morrison’s run at DC. This author is likely to concur.
14.9% of our readers selected the story that I felt was going to be the surefire winner, Morrison’s “Batman” epic, which ran from ‘Batman and Son’ in 2006 to the end of “Batman Incorporated” in 2013. This story is certainly Morrison’s most expansive at DC and, as we’ve already established, is our readers’ favorite 21st century Bat-story.
Third place went to “Doom Patrol,” an early Morrison at DC work, and one that, perhaps, has gained popularity since the DC Universe/HBO Max series of the same name has been on the air. 10.6% of our readers chose this as their top story.
Interestingly, despite naming it their favorite “Crisis” in DC history, “Final Crisis” garnered only 2.8% of the vote. Our site’s namesake, “The Multiversity,” fared slightly better with 6.4%.
