New York City Comic Con may have happened more than a month ago but Multiversity Comics’s coverage of the East Coast’s largest comics and pop culture event is just getting going. Multiversity sent 14 of our staff to the event this year for interviews, panel reports, and more so expect lots more to come over the next few weeks. This way, even if you couldn’t make it yourself, you can still see the con through our eyes.
“Bad Luck Chuck” is a mini-series from Dark Horse Comics that went kind of under the radar. The premise itself is clever and wonderful — bad luck, meet monitization. It was a mix of noir visuals, tight storytelling and dialog, and pure, unadulterated fun. Chaotic in the best of ways, this is a book that will have you laughing all the way to the bank and no, I’m not being paid to say that. I just really liked this book, y’all. From the team of Lela Gwenn, Matthew Dow Smith, Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Frank Cvetkovic, “Bad Luck Chuck” wormed its way into my heart and after chatting with the writer and artist (Gwenn & Dow Smith, respectively) at NYCC, so did they. Without further ado, let’s get to the interview! Oh, and some spoilers for the end of “Bad Luck Chuck.”
