At their SDCC panel today, BOOM! Studios announced that Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time will continue in comic book form. The series, “Adventure Time Season 11” will be launched under their KaBOOM! imprint later this year.

At the helm will be writer Sonny Liew (“The Art of Charlie Hock Chye”) with artist Marina Julia (“Lumberjanes: Faire and Square”). Jorge Corona will be supplying the main cover for the first issue. The comic will tell the story of how Finn and Jake, as well as everyone else in the land of Ooo, continue their lives in the aftermath of The Great Gum War.
BOOM! who have been publishing Adventure Time stories since 2012 have received a plethora of awards for the different series. Marina Julia has worked on one of these series, “Adventure Time: Beginning of the End,” and is thrilled to be involved in a new project because of the enjoyment that being able to “play” in the world of Adventure Time provides.
Sonny Liew described how he was “immediately hooked” when he first watched Adventure Time because it is “somehow appealing to both the adult and kid inside [of] you.” He described that now he is working on the series, he watches the cartoons through a “different lens… try to figure out the methods behind the magic.”
If you haven’t seen the series before, Adventure Time follows two heroes, Finn and Jake, an inseparable kid and dog duo, as they go on adventures in the land of Ooo and meet a variety of colorful characters.
The finale of Adventure Time is set to air this Labor Day on Cartoon Network.
“Adventure Time: Season 11” #1 will launch in October.
