20th Century Fox have announced some major shake-ups to its upcoming film schedule. Deadpool 2, the upcoming sequel starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc With A Mouth, has been moved up from its June 1 release date to May 18. It now opens a week before Solo: A Star Wars Story, which according to The Hollywood Reporter, was a decision made to avoid the strong second week of box office usually displayed by Star Wars movies.

Meanwhile, The New Mutants has been delayed from April 13 to Feb 22, 2019. The horror film take on the characters directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) was pushed back by almost a year, allegedly to avoid it being in overseas theaters at the same time as Deadpool 2, or that matter, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is out November 2.

Finally, Gambit has been delayed from February 14, 2019, to June 7, 2019, after losing its director Gore Verbinski due to scheduling issues. The film starring Channing Tatum as the Cajun mutant was set to start filming in New Orleans in March; the studio is now looking for a new director, who shall the fourth attached to the project after Verbinski, Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Studio insiders are said to hope Gambit, which is described as a comedic heist movie, will do better as a summer release.
