
Andrew Lloyd Webber fans rejoice, for Titan Comics have announced a hardcover original graphic novel based on the musical The Phantom of the Opera. The book will be adapted directly from the libretto by Cavan Scott, who is best known for his work on many “Doctor Who” comics, and illustrated by Spanish artist José María Beroy, known in Europe for his bande dessinée like “À l´ombre du convoy.”
The story of The Phantom of the Opera is based on is the classic French novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, and tells the tragic love story of the Phantom, a disfigured orphan who falls in love with a chorus singer of a new production in the theater where he was abandoned. It is the longest running show in the history of Broadway, and, according to Broadway World, who first broke the news, it has had over 13,000 performances and has been presented in over 145 cities in 27 different countries.
The book will be released on June 2, 2020, but you can already preorder it via Forbidden Planet in an exclusive signed edition with a free mini-print. You can preorder the exclusive edition here until April 30.
