In case you missed it yesterday, the lineup for Scott Snyder’s “Justice League” was revealed yesterday along with news that Jorge Jimenez and Jim Cheung will join him on art, DC announced a second set of DC/Hanna Barbera crossover one-shots, Brian Wood and Mack Chater announced a new ongoing called “Sword Daughter” at Dark Horse, Ava DuVernay is in talks to direct a New Gods movie, and “Spectre” and “Jonah Hex” writer Michael Fleisher has passed away.

– Kicking off, Ridley Scott is in talks to direct an adaptation of Greg Rucka’s 32-issue series “Queen and Country” at Fox. The story centers around fictional British Secret Intelligence Service agent Tara Chace as she is used as bait for an international terrorist. The series ran from 2001 to 2007.

– Last week it was announced IDW Editor-in-Chief, Chris Ryall, was stepping down from his position with the company. The Beat has an exit interview with Ryall with more details on his departure, highlights from his 14-year tenure with the company, and where he is going from here.

Annabella Sciorra (The Sopranos) has been cast in Luke Cage season two as Rosalie Carbone, a criminal underworld power player. The new season is set to arrive on Netflix on June 22nd. In more Marvel casting news, DeWanda Wise is no longer starring in Captain Marvel due to scheduling conflicts. She was rumored to play Monica Rambeau. That movie hits theatres March 8, 2019.

– In more casting news, Tati Gabrielle (The 100) has been cast in the upcoming Sabrina the Teenage Witch show on Netflix as Prudence, “a student at the Academy of Unseen Arts and the de facto leader of a trio of witches known as the Weird Sisters.” The show is being based on “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” comic and produced by Archie Comics CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV. No release date has yet been announced.

– AMC and Fathom Events have announced that the season finale of The Walking Dead and the season premiere of Fear the Walking Dead will be screened in 750 theaters across the US on April 15. The event, dubbed Survival Sunday, will mark the transition of Lennie James’s Morgan Jones from the original show to the spin-off, and a poster has been released to mark the occasion.

Kelly Thompson revealed on her Tumblr that she has two unannounced Marvel books in the work in the moment, with a possible third on the way. Thompson has been writing “Hawkeye,” which just ended, and the “Rogue & Gambit” miniseries. Thompson signed an exclusive contract with Marvel in January, and her name was conspicuously missing from the recent “Fresh Start” announcements.

– Current “Youngblood” artist Jim Towe has announced he is leaving the Image series with issue #11 in April. Towe was solicited for issue #12 in May, but will be replaced by a different artist. “Youngblood” creator Rob Liefeld tweeted, thanking Towe for his work, and expressed his excitement for Towe’s new work at Marvel, though neither Towe nor Marvel have confirmed this.

– Ryan North (“The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl”) revealed his newest project today called, How to Invent Everything: A Standard Guide for the Standard Time Traveler. The book is described as “a non-fiction book about civilization, technology, and humanity itself, wrapped in a candy-coated layer of delicious time-travel fiction.” Lucy Bellwood (“Baggywrinkles: a Lubber’s Guide to Life at Sea”) will provide illustrations for the book which comes out September 18, 2018.

– Titan Comics is releasing an oversized edition of “Sky Doll: Sudra” from Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa. The series follows Noa, a Sky Doll, androids built to serve the sexual desires of their owners, as she rebels. The newest edition of this graphic novel hits shelves September 12, 2018.

– The nominees for the 44th annual Saturn Awards presented by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films have been revealed. You can find all of the nominees here, and check back in June when the winners are revealed.

– Finally, the New Jersey Comic Expo planned for June 8th and 9th has been cancelled, with refunds being provided and no rescheduled date. The expo began in 2017, and has had shows in November the last three years, and, following the show in 2017, announced this date. No reason for the cancellation has been given.
