– Marvel has begun to flesh out their plans for the upcoming ‘Hellfire Gala.’ The Hellfire Gala will be an upcoming event across multiple “X-Men” titles this June, in which Marvel’s mightiest mutants get together for an event not unlike the Met Gala. To mark the occasion, artist Russell Dauterman has unveiled his designs for many members of the X-Men that will be partaking in the event, such as Storm, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Cyclops. The designs are intended to be used specifically for this event, with no plans for them to become permanent changes beyond the story.
– Panel Syndicate – the digital publisher founded by Brian K. Vaughan, Marcos Martin, and Muntsa Vicente – debuted a new, four-part series titled “Paranoia Killer.” The sci-fi title comes from creator Victor Santos, who previously worked on the webcomic “Polar,” and focuses on FBI Agent Nathalie Laertes, whose twin brother is the international hitman known as Delon Sombre. The synopsis states, “now one must become the other.” The first issue is available now on the Panel Syndicate website, and uses the publisher’s unique “name your price” method of payment.
– The CW’s Stargirl series has a new villain on the horizon as TVLine has revealed the first look at the upcoming appearance of Eclipso. In the comics, Eclipso is a magic-based villain who represents the embodiment of God’s wrath and holds control over the Heart of Darkness, a special gem that can corrupt men’s minds. Actor Nick Tarabay is set to play the villain, who will presumably be facing off against Stargirl herself, played by Brec Bassinger.
– IDW Games have announced a crossover gaming experience with Ghostbusters x Men in Black: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion. The board game is planned for release this fall and is available now for pre-order. The game was announced for development back in 2018, and focuses on the Men in Black teaming up with the Ghostbusters to take on a terrifying new threat. In preparation for the game’s release, IDW will be releasing a prequel comic across their social media channels, written by Erik Burnham, who also wrote the campaign for the game. It is worth noting that IDW recently pulled their various “Ghostbusters” comics from digital storefronts, leaving the future of the “Ghostbusters” comic in question.
– The Emmy Award-winning series Star Wars: Clone Wars will be coming to Disney+ in April. The series originally aired between 2003 until 2005 and was spearheaded by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack and Primal. While the show is no longer technically considered part of the Star Wars canon, it had a large influence on the storyline direction of the 3-D Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series that was produced by George Lucas and Dave Filoni, as well as the larger tapestry of the Star Wars universe.
– Birdgirl, the new Adult Swim animated series that spins out of the classic Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law series, has revealed a first look at the upcoming series. This first clip showcases Birdgirl as she takes over her father’s company, making a loud entrance and ruffling a few feathers along the way. The series stars Paget Brewster as Birdgirl, with Rob Delaney, Sonia Denis, and Tony Hale in supporting roles. It is currently set to premiere on April 4.
– Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Movie: Mugan Train has set its release date for North America. Both the subbed and dubbed versions of the anime film will be available in theaters, IMAX, and 4DX on April 23, with a digital release planned for June 22. The movie is the first from the “Demon Slayer” franchise, and shattered records across Japan during its initial release last fall, where it grossed nearly $400 million. The movie is rated R and continues the trials of young swordsman Tanjiro Kamado, who sets out on a journey to return his sister to human form after she is turned into a demon. The first season of the Demon Slayer anime was recently added to North American Netflix in January, and adapts the popular manga series of the same name.
