– The classic British comic “The Trigan Empire” will be reissued for the first time in mass-market collected editions next year thanks to “2000 AD” publishers Rebellion. The sci-fi comic originally ran from 1965 to 1982 and has been cited as a major influence for creators like Neil Gaiman, Dave Gibbons, and Brian Bolland.

– Marvel Entertainment are expanding their partnership with NetEase, one of China’s leading internet and game service providers, to create original content based on Marvel stories. The partnership will jointly produce comic books, video games, and TV shows specifically for consumers in China and elsewhere. No specifics have been announced yet. Marvel and NetEase previously teamed up to create the titles “Aero” and “Sword Master.”

– Marc Gibson, founder of Bolt From the Blue Entertainment, announced the Caribbean’s first digital comic distribution service: Alluhwi Comics. According to Gibson’s press release, the app will feature work exclusively from independent Caribbean comic creators for “basically the price for a single Spider-Man issue.” A beta roll-out is scheduled sometime this month for Android and HTML5 devices. The beta will feature free content for participants.

– BOOM! Studios will give readers the chance to learn about Buffy Summers’s vampire-slaying predecessors in “Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Chosen Ones” #1. The oversized one-shot will feature stories about past-slayers and the origins of Hellmouth from Mairghread Scott (“Batgirl”) and artist Ornella Savarese, and writer/artist Celia Lowenthal (“Over The Garden Wall: Hollow Town”). The comic is due for release August 28, 2019.

– Animator/Director Dana Terrace announced via her Twitter that she, “Lumberjanes” creator Noelle Stevenson, and Molly Osterag (“The Witch Boy”) will be participating in a “Charity Drawathon” to raise money for Planned Parenthood Action later today. You can see more information here.

– DC Comics has issued a Cease and Desist order to the independent comics publisher Devil’s Due Publishing over last week’s one-shot “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force.” The issue in question is a variant cover where the Member of Congress appears in a Wonder Woman outfit, with an “A” in place of the “W”. DC Comics ordered that all copies of the issue be either recalled or destroyed.

– Finally, Kari Skogland (The Handmaid’s Tale) has been announced as director of the upcoming six-part Falcon & Winter Soldier series on Disney+. The show, which will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, will also see the return of Daniel Bruhl’s Captain America: Civil War villain Helmut Zemo, and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter. It is set to debut August 2020.
