In case you missed it, Marvel announced “X-Men: Black,” and that “Uncanny X-Men” will return in November.

– At SDCC, Abrams ComicArts announced a graphic novel based on Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower. The 1993 sci-fi novel, the first of a two-parter, was set in the 2020s when society has mostly collapsed due to climate change and inequality, and followed a young woman with the power of hyperempathy or “sharing,” who starts a new religious community called Earthseed. The book will be adapted by writer Damian Duffy and artist John Jennings, the Eisner Award-winning team behind “Kindred,” another graphic novelization of Butler’s works.
– Titan Comics revealed a new comic series based on Blizzard’s Diablo games. The comic, which is due for release sometime later this year, is written by Marv Wolfman, and illustrated by Piotr Kowalski (“Bloodborne”).
– It was revealed veteran “2000 AD” scribe Rob Williams has written the pilot for Judge Dredd: Mega-City One, and plotted out the first two seasons of the show. The TV series, which was announced last year, hasn’t been picked up by a network yet.
– The DC Films’ universe has been officially branded Worlds of DC, replacing the previous term DC Extended Universe, which was never actually a name used internally at Warner Bros. Pictures. The name seems to better reflect an onscreen multiverse, encapsulating the continuity begun by Man of Steel, and standalone projects like Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie.
– It was announced that season 2 of FOX’s The Gifted will feature the underground mutant group the Morlocks, and the human hate group the Purifiers. A trailer was also released for the second season, which starts September 25.
– Actress Penelope Ann Miller (Awakenings, Chaplin) has been cast in Riverdale season 3 as district attorney Ms. Wright. At the end of the previous season, Archie Andrews was framed for murder, and Ms. Wright aims to prove he’s the culprit in court. The show returns to the CW on October 10.
– Robert Kirkman revealed Super Dinosaur is set to star in an animated series. The show, produced by Spin Master Entertainment, and Vancouver’s Atomic Cartoons, was actually unveiled last year. Super Dinosaur, created by Kirkman and Jason Howard in 2011, is a nine foot tall Tyrannosaurus with a suit of cybernetic armor, and a kid sidekick named Derek Dyanmo. The cartoon, aimed at kids age 6-11, is set to be released in English and French this year.
