In case you missed it yesterday, DC Comics announced six ‘Infected’ tie-ins and one-shots spinning out of “The Batman Who Laughs” and the upcoming “Batman/Superman,” Image Comics announced “Killadelphia” and gave a release date for Jeff Lemire and Phil Hester’s “Family Tree,” BOOM! Studios announced a new “The Magicians” miniseries, and, Graphite added more webcomics to its platformed and revealed its first original series, “Spark” from Ryan Benjamin.

We also have a preview for “Star Wars: TIE Fighter” #5, which hits shelves next week.

'Absolute Carnage' #3 cover

– Kicking off, Marvel released a new motion “Ultimate Comic” yesterday tying into the “Absolute Carnage” event called “Absolute Carnage: Breakout,” which follows-up on Norman Osborn and his involvement in the event. The comic was created by Sean Ryan, Paul Harmon, Elliot Byrne, Evan Csulik, Audrey Wagnon, Emilio Lopez, Michael Lapinski, and Guy Michelmore. You can watch it here now.

– In more Marvel news, the company released a new trailer for their upcoming five-issue “Spider-Man” miniseries. Co-written by J.J. and Henry Abrams and illustrated by Sara Pichelli, the trailer features the creators and editor Nick Lowe talking about the genesis of the project and the new villain Cadaverous. You can watch the trailer here.

– Image and Top Cow’s “Cyber Force” #12 has been postponed indefinitely, with the third trade paperback also being amended to contain only issues #9-#11. The issue was originally scheduled to hit shelves in March, but hit delays and has been cancelled after it’s most recent release date of August 28th. Co-writer and Top Cow President Matt Hawkins stated, however, that the arc was shortened due to removing a plot thread, and the next arc is being planned as we speak.

– Leah Williams and Lenka Simeckova’s creator-owned series “r(ender);” was originally announced to be published by Lion Forge Comics. Following the merger of Lion Forge and Oni Press, however, the project will be published under the Oni Press banner, as will all other creator-owned titles for the foreseeable future. “r(ender);” is the first book that will undergo this change. You can see a preview for the first issue here, and grab it when it debuts on October 2nd.

– Declan Shalvey has been teasing a countdown on Twitter the past couple days, with Image Comics retweeting the teaser with the number 3 yesterday. In Shalvey’s newsletter, the writer/artist has been talking about his upcoming, codenamed, “PROJECT CASHEL,” saying this week that project, a graphic novel, would be revealed at World Con on Sunday at the Image Comics panel – hence the countdown. We’ll have more news for you then, in the meantime you can subscribe to Shalvey’s newsletter here.

– In more graphic novel news, Scholastic and First Second each acquired publication rights for new graphic novels. First Second has bought “Bad Sister” from Charise Mericle Harper and Rory Lucey, which is a “middle grade graphic novel memoir, in which Harper comes to realize that she is a ‘bad sister,’ and experiences a crisis of conscience.” Scholastic has purchased “City of Dragons,” the first of a series of graphic novels from Jaimal Yogis that is described as a “coming-of-age adventure show[ing] that monster-sized problems can be solved if you have friendship, courage, compassion (and maybe a friendly dragon).” Both books have tentative release dates in 2021.

– Deadline reports Disney are considering producing the long-gestating Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off movie as a Disney+ series. Ewan McGregor is in talks to reprise the role, which would follow the character during his wilderness years after his last appearance in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. The Disney streaming service launches November 12, 2019, and already has a handful of Star Wars series in the works, including The Mandalorian (which premieres at launch), a Cassian Andor prequel series, and season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

– Actor Patrick Warburton revealed at Dublin Comic Con last weekend that he would be returning in some capacity for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s seventh and final season. Warburton’s character appeared in flashbacks in season five of the show. The seventh season has already finished production and is set to debut its 13 episode season sometime in 2020.

– Finally, the Visual Effects Society has announced that Stan Lee will be inducted posthumously into their Hall of Fame alongside Walt Disney and Stanley Kubrick. VES board chair Mike Chambers commented “We are proud to recognize those who helped shape our shared legacy and continue to inspire future generations of VFX practitioners.” Lee, co-creator of the Marvel Universe as we know it, died back in November 2018 at the age of 95.
