– Kicking off, a new “Elvira” series over at Dynamite Entertainment is set to spoof a certain Oscar-winning film, called “Elvira: Shape of Elvira.” The four-issue miniseries is written by David Avallone with art by Fran Strukan, and takes place on a movie set where Elvira realizes there’s “something fishy” about her monstrous colleague. The first issue will hit stands in January 2019.

– Also at Dynamite, Leah Williams (“X-Men Black: Emma Frost” #1) and artist Carlos Gomez (“Red Sonja”) are bringing Barbarella and Dejah Thoris together in a crossover miniseries called “Barbarella/Dejah Thoris.” The book will bring the two space-faring ladies together for a murder mystery spanning time and space. The first issue kicks off in January as well.

– Scout Comics also announced their horror series “Long Lost” has been optioned for TV by Entertainment, Inc., with Jenny Klein (Jessica Jones, Cloak and Dagger) attached as writer/producer. The comic, written by Matthew Erman with art by Lisa Sterle, is about two estranged sisters who return to their small southern hometown to uncover the mysterious events there, which all slowly but surely lead back to their mysterious mother.

– Marvel has begun to tease what awaits in the aftermath of the upcoming ‘Disassembled’ arc in the relaunched “Uncanny X-Men” with a teaser image that says “After Disassembled, The Age of X-Man Commences.” The teaser which features on the back of the free Marvel Universe freebie given away in comic book shops this week also has a January 2019 date at the bottom. Expect more info later this week at NYCC.

– Marvel and IDW Entertainment have also renamed their upcoming Marvel all-ages line of comic books to “Marvel Action.” Both the upcoming “Spider-Man” title from Delilah S. Dawson and Fico Ossio and the “Avengers” title from Matthew K. Manning and Jon Sommariva have been renamed to “Marvel Action Spider-Man” and “Marvel Action Avengers.”

– The Marvel Rising world is expanding with two new installments, Marvel Rising: Chasing Ghosts and Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron, which will introduce Riri Williams (voiced by Andi Mack‘s Sofia Wylie). This comes on the heels of the Marvel Rising: Initation shorts and the Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors animated film that both aired on Disney XD. Chasing Ghosts is a 22-minute special while Heart of Iron has a run time of 44 minutes. No distribution or release date was given at this time.

– Cinemax has canceled Outcast, the horror series based on the comic by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta, after two seasons. Despite having been the product of a bidding war between multiple channels before the comic book launched, the show was never a huge hit, ending its second season last week with only 108,000 same-day viewers. The show’s cancellation was also reportedly a result of Cinemax changing its focus to action-packed shows like Strike Back and C.B. Strike. You can read our coverage of Outcast‘s second season here.

Neil Gaiman has signed a new “first-look” television deal with Amazon Studios ahead of their adaptation of his and the late Terry Pratchett’s novel Good Omens. Gaiman previously signed a similar deal with Fremantle Media in 2017 which led to the production of American Gods at Starz. Gaiman has been serving as lead writer/showrunner of Good Omens which is set to air in 2019.

– Finally, Hachette Children’s Group (HCG) has acquired the rights to publish Alice Oseman’s graphic novel “Heartstopper.” The series, originally published as a webcomic, follows the romance of teenagers Nick and Charlie at an all-boys grammar school in Kent. Oseman ran a successful Kickstarter of the series earlier this year, and HCG has acquired the rights to reprint the series under their Hodder Children’s imprint. Volume 1 comes out in February 2019, with volume 2 following closely behind in June.
