In case you missed it, we sat down with writer and artist Sina Grace (“Getting It Together”) on our weekly Twitch show Multiversity Coffee Break, to discuss the short-lived WildStorm imprint Cliffhanger.

– As Marvel’s ‘King in Black’ event rapidly approaches, two more heroes — well, one hero and one hero-ish — are entering the fray with a pair of event tie-ins. First, GamesRadar has the reveal that Chip Zdarsky’s ongoing “Daredevil” series will feature a two issue tie-in with art from series artists Marco Checchetto and Mike Hawthorne, starting with January’s #26. Per the book’s solicit, the story will see Matt Murdock facing “a darkness unlike any before,” while Elektra finds herself in over her head “for the first time in her life.” Next, CBR has the news that “Deadpool” #10 from Kelly Thompson and Gerardo Sandoval will tie into ‘King in Black’ as well, finding Deadpool, currently holding the moniker of King of Monsters, on a collision course with the King in Black himself. The solicitation suggests that the big bad Knull will be taking time out of his busy schedule of conquering the planet to attempt to kill the Merc with the Mouth. “Daredevil” #26 and “Deadpool” #10 are both set for release in January 2021.
– Artist Sean Phillips has unveiled the cover and expected release date for the second graphic novel in his and frequent collaborator Ed Brubaker’s ‘Reckless’ series from Image Comics. “Reckless,” the first book in the series that will follow private investigator Ethan Reckless, was announced last month, and is set to debut December 16. If that book is as well received as Brubaker and Phillips’s other critically-acclaimed collaborations like “Criminal,” “Fatale” and “My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies,” fans won’t have to wait long for more. According to Phillips, the next Reckless book, “Friend of the Devil,” should be expected in April 2021.
– Via Crunchyroll, Paru Itagaki’s hit manga series “BEASTARS” published its final chapter in Shonen Jump this week in Japan. The series quickly became a success after its premiere in 2016, spawning a popular anime adaptation. Volume 22 of the series will see release in Japan on January 8. Though fans will likely be sad to see the series go, English language readers won’t need to worry for a while: volume 9 of Viz Media’s English release of the series is currently available for preorder.
– IGN reports that, fresh off of its relatively short stint in theaters, Josh Boone’s The New Mutants will be seeing release on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, DVD and Digital HD next month. The long-delayed film finally saw a theatrical release on August 28 — to mixed reviews — making it the first major Hollywood film to open in theaters since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans who were wary of heading to the theater due to the health crisis will soon be able to check it out at home, along with some special features including this video unveiled by IGN that highlights the contributions of artist Bill Sienkiewicz to the New Mutants canon and the film’s aesthetic. The New Mutants hits shelves and digital platforms on November 17.
– Disney’s DuckTales is set to air an hour-long Darkwing Duck special later this month, and they’re bringing along two classic characters for the episode. Via ComicBook.com, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz is set to play Gosalyn Mallard, Drake “Darkwing Duck” Mallard’s adopted daughter. In the original series, Gosalyn joined up with Mallard’s cause after her grandfather perished at the hands of Taurus Bulba, one of Darkwing Duck’s archfoes. That villain will also be joining the DuckTales universe, with Tony Award-winner James Monroe Iglehart (Broadway’s Aladdin) taking on the role of Bulba in the special. DuckTales currently airs on Monday nights on Disney XD, and the one-hour episode “Let’s Get Dangerous” premieres Monday, October 19.
– Finally, Insomniac Games’s highly-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is getting two companion books from Titan Books. Via GamesRadar, bestselling author Brittney Morris (Slay) is lending her pen to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury, a prequel book that will find Miles coming to terms with “what it means to be Spider-Man,” while throwing down with the Vulture and his accomplice Starling. In addition, Titan will be releasing a full-color coffee table hardback, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – The Art of the Game, by Matt Ralphs. Showcasing concept art and in-game renderings including characters, locations, tech, gadgets, outfits, and more, the book will also feature insights from the artists, collaborators, and developers at Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury will see release on November 10, the game itself drops on November 12, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – The Art of the Game hits shelves on February 21, 2021.
