BOOM! Studios kicked off WonderCon in Anaheim with their panel yesterday, announcing four new titles for July, and a young adult novel for the fall:

“Thrilling Adventure Hour:” The publisher have acquired the comics rights to “The Thrilling Adventure Hour” podcast, and will begin publishing a new ongoing. Creators Ben Acker and Ben Blacker will return to write, and newcomer M.J. Erickson will be on art duties for the first story, which sees high society mediums Frank and Sadie Doyle stuck in a haunted house after a drunken night out. As announced two months ago, BOOM! will also collect the Image Comics series “Thrilling Adventure Hour Presents: Beyond Belief” in trade paperback in July, albeit under the new title “Thrilling Adventure Hour: A Spirited Romance.”

“RuinWorld:” Derek Laufman’s anthropomorphic fantasy webcomic will be published under BOOM!’s all-ages KaBOOM! imprint. The series, which Laufman began working on two years ago, follows two treasure hunters, Rex the fox, and his young sidekick, Pogo the pig.

“Jim Henson’s Beneath the Dark Crystal:” BOOM!’s Archaia imprint returns to Jim Henson’s dark fantasy world, with a 12-issue sequel with art by newcomer Alexandria Huntington, and a script by Adam Smith (“Jim Henson’s Labyrinth 2017 Special,” 2016’s “DC’s New Talent Showcase“). The comic will see “Power of the Dark Crystal” protagonist Kensho struggling to accept his responsibility as the new leader of Thra, while Ember Queen Thurma faces a challenger for her throne.

“Bone Parish:” A new horror series written by Cullen Bunn (“Harrow County”) with art by the Turkish brothers Şerif and Mustafa Karasu, “Bone Parish” depicts a new drug ground from the remains of the dead that sweeps the streets of New Orleans, causing users “to experience terrifying visions of the dead coming back to life — through them.” The comic will focus on the family that created the drug, and how they contend with rival crime organizations and the spirits of the dead they have violated.

Giant Days: BOOM! Studios’s deal with Abrams Books, which has already produced a series of “Backstagers” novels, will continue with a young adult novel based on John Allison’s “Giant Days,” written by Non Pratt (Trouble, Remix). The book is due for release this fall.

BOOM! Studios will have another panel later today for the ‘Power Rangers: Shattered Grid’ crossover. Stick around to Multiversity Comics for further news from WonderCon.
