Another week, another set of top notch covers. This week one features some first timers and some long time favorites, and it’s also the first time this cover has dropped on the new site. Hope you guys are digging it, but let’s get straight to the covers.

Art by Raffele Ienco
Sometimes a cover doesn’t have to do anything flashy to stand out. In the case of Image’s “Epic Kill,” all you really needed was one dynamic image from artist Raffele Ienco with superb presentation and atypical layout. It’s just a splendid combination of all factors that creates something that stands out on the rack.

Art by Brian Bolland
You know, Brian Bolland is kind of a legend. Even with that in mind, when I first saw this cover I was a little off put by the fact the lead character in this image looked like an overweight version of Jack of Fables, another book he previously covered. However, after reading this book, I quickly realized that this is a pretty genius cover in how it reflected the story inside. It also helps that its just a beautifully composed effort by Bolland, and really, he isn’t drawing fat Jack of Fables. He’s just drawing what the lead of this book looks like. It helps reading the book. Sometimes you can’t judge the cover until you read the book, oddly.

Art by Dave Johnson
Another week, another great outing from Dave Johnson. I love a lot of this cover. The bold orange in the background, the kind of psychedelic angle to the Fury figure, the images inside of his whited out silhouette. It’s all quite awesome, and also a little different than you normally get from a cover. Thankfully, that’s some Johnson is great at.

Art by Paolo Rivera
Man, “Daredevil” always has awesome covers. Always. Whether its Paolo Rivera or Marcos Martin, they are always some of the best of their week. One of the things they do such a great job of is incorporating how Matt Murdock himself would be experiencing these visuals, and this one, with the steady heart rate of ADA Kirsten McDuffie showing her confidence with him, is pretty spectacular. They’re such a clever bunch over there on Team Daredevil.

Art by Jeff Lemire
Every once in a while, Lemire does these awesome horizontal covers that you don’t see anywhere else. It shows something that he does really well: experiment with his art. Whether its dabbling with water colors or changing the orientation of the piece, Lemire always finds the best way to bring a certain piece to life. “Sweet Tooth” as a whole always displays a sharp blend of experimentation with quality, storytelling substance with exciting style. The guy is a champ. Plus, it has Bobby on the cover. Me am glad whenever Bobby shows up.
