The 2018 Diamond Gem Award Winners

Diamond Comic Distributors have announced the winners of the 2018 Diamond Gem Awards, which are chosen every year by comic book specialty retailers. So, without further ado, here are the winners:

DC Entertainment claimed the most awards of a single publisher with seven wins:
– It was named the Comic Book Publisher of the Year (Over 3% Market Share).
“Action Comics” #1000 was named Top Dollar Comic Book as well as Comic Book of the Year – Over $3.99
“Heroes In Crisis” #1 was awarded Comic Book of the Year $3.99 or Under.
– Reprint TP/HC of the Year for “Batman: White Knight.”
– Best All Ages Series for”DC Super Hero Girls.”
– Best All-Ages Original/Reprint Graphic Novel for “DC Super Hero Girls: Date With Disaster.”
– DC Collectibles received Collectible Statue of the Year for their Batman: Black and White: The Batman Who Laughs statue.

Marvel Comics received five Diamond Gem Awards:
– Top Dollar Market Share Publisher of the Year.
– Licensed TP/HC of the Year for “Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith” Volume 2.
– Anthology of the Year for “Thanos Legacy” #1.
– Best Free Comic Book Day Book for “FCBD 2018 Avengers/Captain America.”
– Best New Comic Book Series for “Immortal Hulk.”

Image Comics won two Diamond Gem Awards: Backlist Publisher of the Year and Original Graphic Novel of the Year for “My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies.”

Dark Horse Comics were awarded two Diamond Gem Awards for Licensed Comic of the Year for “Stranger Things” #1, and the Trade Book of the Year for The Legend of Zelda Encylopedia.

IDW Publishing took home Game Product of the Year for Batman: The Animated Series: Gotham Under Siege. BOOM! Studios was named the Comic Book Publisher of the Year (Under 3% Market Share), while VIZ Media was awarded Manga Publisher of the Year and received Manga TP of the Year for “My Hero Academia” Volume 13.

The Indie GN of the Year was awarded to Drawn + Quarterly for Jason Lutes’s “Berlin: The Complete Edition.” The Magazine of the Year prize was awarded to Heavy Metal.

WizKids/NECA were named the Game Manufacturer of the Year and Diamond Select Toys were named Toy Manufacturer of the Year. The Marvel Select Thor: Ragnarok Gladiator Hulk Action Figure was named Toy Product of the Year while Funko’s Funko Pop! line was named Toy Line of the Year.
