Pulp icon the Lone Ranger is returning to comics once again this October thanks to Dynamite Entertainment. The western hero’s newest adventures are being brought back to the page by the creative team of writer Mark Russell (“Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles,” “Prez”), artist Bob Q (“The Green Hornet ’66 Meets The Spirit”), and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (“Shanghai Red,” “PanelxPanel”).

Russell will be using the series to explore a genre he sees as “like jazz, one of the truly great American art forms, [wanting] to use it to tell America’s story. About how we’ve used the West to mythologize ourselves, about how the West is at once the metaphor and reality for where we’ve come from and our struggle to control where this nation is heading.”
First debuting in 1933 as a radio drama, the Lone Ranger is no stranger to the comics medium. Since 2006, the Lone Ranger has seen his adventures chronicled across multiple series from Dynamite, including the original, Eisner-nominated series from 2006 overseen by Brett Matthews, and artists John Cassaday and Sergio Cariello.
The creative team has nothing but praise for one another, with Russell praises Bob Q’s art. “I think this series will remind people what they love about the Lone Ranger and Tonto while showing them sides of these characters they never thought they’d see.”
Accordingly, the debut issue of “The Lone Ranger” will feature a wide selection of cover variants featuring the talents of Cassaday, Mike Allred (“Madman”), and Francesco Francavilla (“Afterlife with Archie”).
