Before WonderCon over the weekend, we covered Frank Miller’s new deal with DC and news of an “Astro City” TV series; we then covered the big WonderCon announcements from BOOM! Studios, the ones from IDW (particularly “Bebop and Rocksteady Hit the Road” and confirmation “Transformers: Unicron” will end the Hasbro Universe), and more from DC (namely the new Justice League and Teen Titans titles, and the creative team taking over “Green Arrow” in August).

Transformers: Lost Light #16

– Following the announcement “Unicron” will conclude the IDW Transformers’ story, “Transformers: Lost Light” writer James Roberts confirmed the comic and “Optimus Prime” will ship biweekly over the summer so both series will conclude at the same time as “Unicron.”

– At their WonderCon panel, CBS screened a deleted scene from the Star Trek: Discovery season 1 finale, which introduces Section 31 into the show. The showrunners also confirmed season 2 will consist of 13 episodes; the first season was also originally 13 episodes, until it was extended to 15.

– Scott Snyder confirmed at a WonderCon Spotlight panel that “Wytches” will return later this year, with a prelude issue collecting ‘The Bad Egg’ story serialized in “Image+.” The first “Wytches” comic, written by Snyder with art by Jock, was published from 2014 to 2015.

– Image announced more $1 reprints of the first issues of various titles, including “Curse Words” and “Moonstruck,” and older titles like old titles like “Spawn” and Fatale.”

– Due to creative differences, FX have canceled the Deadpool animated series being overseen by Donald and Stephen Glover. The ten-episode season was ordered straight to season for FXX last year.

– Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds, the live-action Deadpool, will receive writing credit on the sequel, which was co-written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick.

– Nickelodeon debuted the first trailer for the newest TMNT cartoon, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, featuring all the cast, including John Cena as new villain Baron Draxum. The 2D animated series begins later this year.

– BOOM! Studios released a live-action trailer for ‘Power Rangers: Shattered Grid’ starring Jason David Frank as Lord Drakkon, and directed by “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” writer Kyle Higgins. Higgins went on the Ranger Danger podcast to talk about how the trailer came together.

– Fantagraphics announced a new series of reprints, “Disney Masters,” collecting the work of European and American artists like Romano Scarpa, Luciano Bottaro, Paul Murry, Daan Jippes, and Freddy Milton.

– Cinebook will start publishing the new “Valerian and Laureline” comics that emerged in the movie’s wake in English. The first volume by Wilfrid Lupano and Mathieu Lauffray will be out in June.

– Finally, we asked before the weekend which Marvel run wrapping up this summer will you miss the most: 25% of you responded with “All-New Wolverine,” written by Tom Taylor, followed by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw’s “Thanos” with 21% of the vote.
