Welcome to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

In case you missed it, San Diego Comic-Con-related announcements began in earnest yesterday, including:

– New “KISS,” “The Lone Ranger,” and “James Bond” series from Dynamite Comics.
Three new Hellboy-related titles coming from Dark Horse, to celebrate the character’s 25th anniversary, as well as a new edition of “B.P.R.D.: Vampire.”
– DC following up with a full-on miniseries for “Old Lady Harley,” their Harley Quinn-based pastiche of “Old Man Logan.”
– Marvel rolling out the premises for a series of new “What If?” stories, starring versions of the X-Men, Spider-Man, Magik, Ghost Rider, and Thor.

And the day just kept on rolling, providing the following stories that we didn’t find time to cover in-depth:

– Even more DC/Hanna-Barbera specials are headed your way this year, according to The Beat. The October 31 debuting titles include “Green Lantern/Huckleberry Hound,” “Deathstroke/Yogi Bear,” “Superman/Top Cat,” and “Nightwing/Magilla Gorilla.”

– A new four-issue series from Legendary Comics will flesh out the backstory of Netflix’s Lost in Space crew. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on the series, titled “Lost in Space: Countdown to Danger,” including preview pages from the team of writers Richard Dinnick and Brian Buccellato and artist ZID. The series starts in October.

– James Wan’s Aquaman revealed its first poster, putting star Jason Momoa at the center of a veritable aquatic army. Also, a new Aquaman trailer’s coming this Saturday, as part of San Diego Comic-Con.

– If you’re headed to San Diego Comic-Con, you’ll be able to see acclaimed Italian artist Zerocalcare there, reports The Beat. Zerocalcare’d been worried about receiving his visa, due to the political nature of his comics, but the visa came through just in time.

– 2018 Tony Award nominee Lauren Ridloff will join The Walking Dead for season nine, according to Entertainment Weekly. Ridloff, who is deaf, will play a new version of comics character Connie, described as “a seasoned survivor deft at using her senses to read people, situations, and trouble.”

Entertainment Weekly also reports that Sam Esmail’s Mr. Robot will make its way to comic books, thanks to Black Mask Studios. The new comic will be set before Mr. Robot‘s first season. Esmail will pen the script with show writer Jeff McKibben and Black Mask publisher Matteo Pizzolo, with art by Antonio Fuso.

– New publisher Critical Entertainment will make their debut at SDCC, along with their first three series: “Zombie Zero,” “Planetary Expansion,” and “The First Americans.” For more details on all three titles, click over to GlobeNewswire.

– As part of their pre-SDCC teases, Marvel showed off a promotional image for new series “X-Men: Black,” featuring a classic-looking Magneto. Expect more details at Marvel’s X-Men panel on Sunday, says Newsarama.

– Joseph Ettinger’s “Nice,” which tells the story of two hipster assassins fighting against the organization that had employed them, has moved from unproduced TV pilot to comic book form, finding a home at American Gothic Press. The Hollywood Reporter has more details.

– Writer David Michelinie attempted to restart the debate about which comics creators deserve credit for creating which characters, reports Newsarama.

– Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey film will feature Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya alongside Robbie’s Harley Quinn. The Wrap has those details, along with hints at the movie’s villain.
