Another week, another round-up! Welcome to From The Editor’s Desk, in which I provide you a nice collective round-up of all the things we did this week. Well, at least since the previous round-up. It was a pretty busy week for us, so I’m more than pleased to have a nice concise way to bring it all together for your viewing pleasure. So as you wind down your weekend, enjoy this nice little round-up.
Stay tuned, as next week will most likely explode. Brandon and David are going to ECCC this weekend, so keep your eyes open for them. They’ll be watching you.
- The very first thing we reported is that the Firefly ‘verse is coming back to comics. A Shepherd’s Tale, which has been teased for quite a while now, is supposedly coming out this year. I won’t believe it until I see it, though.
- Brandon and Burpee return in the third installment (but first properly titled) of 4 Color News and Brews. Drinks are had and jokes are made! Oh, and comic-dom is discussed.
- I return with the second part of my Event write-up with Multiversity 101: The Tie-Ins.
- In case you somehow missed it, Amazon.com glitched like crazy this weekend. It was intense. Walt did a wrap-up on it, and David gave you the finale. And then it happened to Barnes and Noble! Oh my!
- Walt returns with your trip through the history of the JSA. For those currently enjoying Bill Willingham and Matt Sturges’ work, or for those of you who love Geoff Johns, you might wanna take a look.
- The Iron Man 2 trailer came out after the Oscars. In the words of everyone else: Briefcase Armor!
- Joshua Mocle, from Spoiler Alert, finally begins his weekly column for Multiversity: Hate Mail. First topic of discussion? Why he doesn’t like fans.
- The week’s first real announcement is that comic book super star J. Michael Straczynski will be writing both Superman and Wonder Woman. Consider them bought already.
That’s not all DC has done though! On top of that, Nicieza is replacing Yost, and Pete Woods will be doing interiors on Action Comics.
- This years ECCC Exclusive Print was revealed, and I love it. Absolutely hilarious.
- I posted a brief round-up of Marvel previews for those looking to get a sneak peek at their books. On top of that, we posted previews of: Justice League: Rise and Fall, New Avengers #63, Batgirl #8, Supergirl #51, Ultimate Comics X #2, and Batman #697.
- We posted a guest article by John Stump from Graphic.ly, who talks about comics kids can get in to.
- This week Marvel starting teasing their new book, Avengers Academy. We posted all the teasers which you can find here, here, here, here, and here.
- Oh my goodness! REAL LIFE ATOMIC ROBO!
- Take a look at our first video interview with David Peterson of Mouse Guard, conducted by Mouse Guard fanatic David Harper.
- David talked about how Fantagraphics is launching a manga imprint.
- We showed off the Top Cow exclusive for ECCC. It’s rather pretty.
- Patton Oswalt is finally writing a comic book. Even better than that? It’s a Firefly book!

- We gave you a brief look at some of the various Iron Man variants for next month.
- David did a write-up on this week’s Chuck, a particularly great episode if you ask me.
- This week’s Small Press Spotlight is brought to us once again by Steve Ponzo. This time, the title is The Lagoon, by Lilli Carre.
- Sam McKeever, writer of the Nomad mini and back up in Captain America, will be bringing the Young Allies to life in a new series.
- It looked like John Krasinski was almost Captain America. He was, for whatever reason, removed from the running however. As for the Red Skull? Looks like it’s Agent Smith.Continued below
- As always: This week in comics!
- In this week’s Zuda Weekly, David reviews all of the March Contenders (see the comments for some fun arguing).
- It is confirmed: Christopher Nolan will be working on the Superman flick. I discussed it, much to the chagrin of our readers.
- Crit returns from sick leave to bring you a review of Dr. Linus.
- Hawkeye and Mockingbird are getting their own series, written by the duo that brought you The Reunion. Nice.
- For your viewing pleasure: our weekly comic reviews.
- The Sword’s final issue will be double sized. Frak yeah!
- David takes a look at how the iPad will handle (and love) comic books.
- Matt and Mocle return with Spoiler Alert episode 3: Man… Prometheus has got it rough!
- Gil is here with Friday Rec, and it’s for my favorite series, Secret Six by Gail Simone.
- It looks like Romita Jr was not the artist of Thor, but Pasqual Ferry is! Not too shabby.
- Comic Book Literacy is going to premiere at C2E2. Unfortunately, we aren’t. Rats.
