In case you missed it, New York Comic Con 2018 has officially begun, and DC announced the teen imprint Wonder Comics curated by Brian Michael Bendis, as well as a “Young Justice: Outsiders” comic will set up season 3; Marvel announced one shots to celebrate their 80th anniversary; Cave Pictures Publishing announced their 2019 launch slate; IDW will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a weekly event; and Robert Kirkman announced “Outcast” is to end next year.

– DC Universe have revealed their 2018-2019 Original context release schedule. Staring the lineup off would be Titans, which will start to air October 12, 2018. Although no specific dates were announced, the first half of Young Justice: Outsiders will follow at the start of next year, with the second half released in the summer, and Doom Patrol released in-between. Swamp Thing will start in June 2019, and Stargirl circa September, and the animated Harley Quinn series starting mid-October 2019.
– At New York Comic Con’s DC Meet the Publishers Panel, Marv Wolfman surprised fans when he took to the stage to announce a new comic based on the upcoming ‘Primal Age’ toy line produced by Funko. “DC Primal Age” will be drawn by Scott Koblish, and like the toy line, will reimagine the DC Universe in a Conan-like world rooted in magic and sword-wielding action.
– The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported Blade Runner 2049 screenwriter Michael Green and long time writer Mike Johnson will write a new comic book continuing the movie series. The two writers have previously collaborated on DC Entertainment’s “Superman/Batman” and “Supergirl.” In a statement, Green said “Every iteration of the Blade Runner world throws the window open a little wider. Mike and I can’t wait to see what we find outside.” Titan Publishing will partner with Alcon Media Group to release the series of comics. In a statement in July 2018, Titan founder Nick Landau and Vivian Cheung stated “We are extremely excited to be publishing Blade Runner comics and illustrated books. The Blade Runner universe has barely been explored; there is so much more there.” Titan have stated more information will be released in the coming months.
– Newsarama have been told by Marvel Comics that they plan to launch a Skrull comic book series in February 2019. Marvel teased the book at New York Comic Con’s Diamond retailer breakfast. The Skrulls have gotten recent exposure, due to them being the villains of March’s Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson. Marvel’s tag line for the series is “Something Skrully this way comes.” The slide featured at the presentation was accompanied by artwork from Jack Kirby.
– Writer Donny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw are taking on the “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and the new series will feature a new roster of heroes, one of which has been named: Cosmic Ghost Rider. Marvel’s official synopsis reads, “The Universe is on fire. Hundreds of worlds are at war. Never has there been such hatred and division across the cosmos. And in spite of all this, Thanos of Titan is still dead….or is he? Now, more than ever, the cosmos needs the Guardians of the Galaxy… but in the aftermath of the Infinity Wars, who is left to answer the call? Featuring every cosmic Super Hero in the known universe, a new adventure is set to begin.” Cates commented on the announcement, “Geoff and I always lean towards stories that are little bit loud, and in space, the stakes and action can be bigger than anywhere else.” “Guardians of the Galaxy” begins an all-new chapter in 2019.
– Marvel have informed retailers that Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli’s “Fantastic Four” #3 has been pushed back four weeks to November 14: the fourth issue is still set for November 28. They also announced two additional issues for their adaptation of “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” bringing the total length of the series to seven issues. Oni Press have launched a new free comics hub for all ages, their catch line saying, “Learn something, share something, and be a part of a community that loves reading and sharing comics.” The comics that are currently available on the hub are Megan Rose Gedris’s “Spectacle,” Sarah Graley’s “Kim Reaper,” and “Draw Out the Vote,” which has been released by Oni Press to “make it easy as possible for people to register and vote in 2018.” In the press release, publisher James Lucas stated “We see this as just the opening salvo in a campaign to bring the work of our astonishing creators to more readers with as few barriers as possible.”
– Lion Forge’s Caracal imprint, which is targeted at middle-grade readers, has announced a trilogy of original graphic novels called “The Underfoot.” Written by Ben Fisher and Emily S. Whitten with art by Michelle Nguyen, the series will feature Hamster Aquatic Mercenaries, who are trying to save their badger allies from a dangerous flooding. The first book in the trilogy, “The Mighty Deep,” will be released in April 2019.
– It seems like Chris Evans will be putting up his shield after Avengers 4: on his Twitter, he has stated that he has wrapped filming his scenes, and that it was an honor playing the character of Captain America for eight years. He thanked the actors, crew and the fans for all the great memories he has had.
– Bluprint, NBCUniversal’s subscription service, and DC Entertainment have joined forces to bring you SUIT UP!, a new DIY costume design series. Hosted by Marcy Harriell, the four-part series will teach fans how to ‘transform’ into their favourite DC characters. This will include tutorials for Halloween, comic conventions and everyday cosplay.
