I started writing at Multiversity because I wanted to read more comics. I wasn’t particularly knowledgable, and hadn’t read very widely, and I figured becoming a reviewer was […]

By | May 30, 2024 | Columns

As we refuse to let you forget, Multiversity Comics was started because our founder Matthew Meylikhov thought X-Men Origins: Wolverine wasn’t as bad as folks were saying. Whether we all agree with him or not is a topic for another day…actually, that day is tomorrow. As the last ‘official’ action of Multiversity in its full […]

Interviews
Mary Pope Osborne on Free Play, Reading, and Joy in “Magic Tree House”

By | May 27, 2024 | Interviews

Mary Pope Osborne is not a big name in comics but she is a gigantic name in the world of children's literature. Her "Magic Tree House" series has been running for over 30 years and inspired multiple generations of readers, like myself, to inquire deeply and with openness. Her 39th (or maybe it's 67th) "Magic Tree House" book, "Windy Night with Wild Horses" has just come out. It was a joy to get to talk to her about a wide range of topics related to her books, in particular the graphic novel adaptations by Jenny Laird and Kelly & Nicole Matthews that are going three years strong, with book 7, "Sunset of the Sabertooth" on the horizon.

Imagine this: You inherent a home from your late father. While cleaning up you discover a small notebook with numbers for “cleaners” and “decorators.” It’s hard to shake the feeling that these aren’t your average home beautification professionals. A Crisis of Chronology: An Intro to Marvel

By | May 9, 2010 | Columns

Unlike DC, Marvel rarely revamps their heroes’ origin stories. While this can certainly be considered a good thing, as we don’t have to read the same story over and over again with a few touched up details, it doesn’t help bring in newer readers. No matter how amazing the classics are, it’s often hard for […]

Junji Ito’s Cat Diary: Yon & Mu

By | May 3, 2016 | Reviews

Cats are weird. I should know, seeing as how I live with three of ’em. They’re adorable little critters who love laps and claw at the curtains. I’ve sometimes imagined that it is a very real possibility that cats are actually some sort of low-level demons sent to live in our world. And, seeing as how […]
