“The Goddamned: Virgin Brides” #1

By | Jul 2, 2020 | Reviews

Note: spoilers and amateur biblical exegesis lie ahead When we last wandered the world of ”The Goddamned” in 2015, the rules of the game were simple. Fight monsters in the morning, huddle beneath your acrid shawl at night, and kill or be killed — regardless of the time of day. If we were to make […]

“Dragon Age: Magekiller”

By | Jul 1, 2020 | Reviews

Maker bless you, warriors, rogues, and mages, and welcome to our review of “Dragon Age: Magekiller,” a book that is almost very interesting. The characters are almost compelling. The action is almost exciting. The one thing holding “Magekiller” back from being very good is that the protagonists don’t drive the story forward; the story happens […]

“The Question” (1987) #13-16

By | Jun 30, 2020 | Reviews

By | Jun 30, 2020 | Reviews

It's been a long week, a long month, a long year. It's been a long forever and we must press ever onwards, keeping an eye on what can be fixed and what must be replaced. We can do it, but it will not be easy and it will not be done without toiling hard. And now that my soap box is starting to crack, let's get on with the comics. This week, we have newcomers "The Boxer" and a familiar looking "Detatched" along with our returners "A Better Place" and "Trekker."

Remembering Amalgam: “Amazon” #1

By | Jun 29, 2020 | Reviews

The next pit stop on the Summer trip through the Amalgam titles is “Amazon”, the first real dud I’ve come across. “The Question” (1987) #9-12

By | Jun 23, 2020 | Reviews

I feel spoiled by having a creative team on a superhero book remain consistent throughout the entirety of its first year. It’s a rarity now that a team doesn’t change inker, colorist, letterer or, hell, even the penciler or writer, by the end of the first arc but to have every position consistent on all twelve issues?
